Arts Factory Village Open Day and Guinness World Record Attempt

Due to the huge success of last years Open Day, The Arts Factory Village has decided to open its doors to the public again. Obviously, the Open Day is an opportunity to showcase the range of businesses located within the Arts Factory Village but we would also like to support other local businesses involved in the arts and entertainment industries throughout Byron Shire. Byron Shire is renowned for its eclectic mix of alternative lifestylers and we have a vast range of artists living and working within the region. We hope to use this opportunity to support our local artists and provide them with a chance to promote themselves to the public. We plan to have a number of market stalls on site as well as a range of live music, entertainment and workshops.  The Arts Factory Café and Byron Bay Brewery will be selling a range of delicious food and drinks throughout the day and evening.

The Arts Factory Village was the focal point, even the birthplace of much of the fame and spirit of Byron Bay. It began as a working Piggery in 1898. In the early 70's, many local and international artists, hippies and alternative life-stylers turned it into a creative "Arts Factory". In the very early 80's, this group created a nationally acclaimed, and internationally recognised Rock 'N' Roll venue. The Arts Factory was the birthplace of the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival and is now home to a diverse range of businesses offering a unique selection of accommodation, food, entertainment, arts, health & well-being.

You can find out more information about each of the businesses at the Arts Factory Village below.

As part of the Open Day, we will also be attempting to break our current Guinness World Record for Most People Fire Spinning. Our current Guinness World Record was achieved on Saturday 15th August 2009 for 102 participants spinning fire simultaneously for 3 minutes. This spectacular event had people travelling from near and far to have their names associated with the Guinness World Record. This years attempt will be held on Saturday 14th August at 8pm SHARP and all participants must pre register by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. There will also be a Buskers / Open Mic competition for local performers with a range of exciting prizes to be won.  It will be a great day of fun and entertainment for all so start spreading the word.
