Why visit New Zealand in winter?

winterinnewzealandglacier

I've noticed that it is getting quieter here in Auckland now that it's winter time. Which is obvious, as it is cold, wet and not many people like to travel and see the beauty of New Zealand in 'shitty' weather. However I do not agree with this, I think New Zealand is beautiful and yes especially during winter.

New Zealand is beautiful all year long. This country knows 4 seasons that all have something special to offer. But why come to New Zealand during winter? Of course there are a lot of reasons but my top 3 are the following:

wintercampervandeals

- Special deals

During the winter it is getting quieter. You'll notice that special discounted deals are going on for backpackers. Hop on a bus around the North and South Island for a good deal and see all places that New Zealand has to offer or hire a car or campervan and explore this country yourself. Prepare yourself for a bungee or skydive in wintertime while you will see the most beautiful views and have the best experience of a lifetime.

- Smaller groups

We all want to meet other travelers and share travel stories with each other. Some people prefer to travel alone others prefer traveling in a group. Hopping on a bus tour remains popular, even in wintertime. However I have to say that I prefer to travel in a bus that is not completely full. A full bus is cool but a smaller group is great as well. You get to know the other travelers a bit better, can spend time with them and create memories that you will never forget! The most fun part of small groups is that you definitely get the attention from your 'hot' tour guide who is more than happy to tell you all about beautiful New Zealand, its culture and maybe even about his private life ;).

- Beauty of the snow

New Zealand is seperated in 2 parts; the North and the South Island. In the South Island you can definitely find the winter experience that you are waiting for. Seeing snow on the mountains, beautiful views everywhere, snowboarding or skiing with the rest of the travelers, hopping in the pubs after a long day on the mountains and end your long days in the snow with a visit in the sauna at your accommodation! You can visit the North Island and enjoy pretty ok temperatures compared to the cold South Island. Enjoy walks, hikes, skydives, cultural shows and much more in the North Island and prepare yourself for adventure like bungees, snowboarding, glacier hikes and way more in the South Island.

They say you've got to be in it to win it and if you don't become part of this travel 'game' you will miss out on all the great adventures that you can experience during the different seasons in New Zealand. Come and discover New Zealands culture, cities, villages, tours, activities and much more during winter season and who knows: you might fall in love with this country (or our lovely kiwi boys and girls), you might stay longer and this gives you the opportunity to discover New Zealand during the other 3 seasons as well! All I want to say is: don't let the cold of winter scare you off 'cause travelling is beautiful, whenever and wherever you are going to :).

Come and see me at the Mad Travel Shop at Nomads Fat Camel in Auckland and I will tell you about the special deals in New Zealand at the moment and also all the amazing Indoor / Winter activities to do in Auckland itself.
