Long Haul flights, mistakes I've made

longhaulflights

Long Haul flights are never fun. Everyone knows that 34 hours worth of flying across the globe is extreme, but getting to go to either a country you've never been to before or even home for a visit, has to be worth the hassle right? But how do you prepare yourself for such extreme travelling and such ridiculously long haul flights? You pack the essentials and prepare yourself of course!

Bad Ass Rule Breaking

BadAssRuleBreaking

As much as it sucks, everyone loves to break the rules. I have no idea why but maybe it's just that bad boy feeling that you get. Most of you are well behaved and stick to the rules but factor in a bit of alcohol (or a lot in some cases) and people can become little rebels.

After living in a hostel for a few months now there seems to be a few rules that everyone breaks...

Migaloo the white humpback whale

Migaloo white humpback whale3

Have you heard of Migaloo? The world famous, well maybe not WORLD famous but he sure is a celebrity here in the oceanic area, white humpback whale… well he is back! And it's thought that our friend Migaloo might have had a calf a few years back as a young white humpback whale was spotted travelling with him in 2011 off the coast of Cairns. Both Migaloo, and the yet to be named white calf, have been spotted migrating up the East Coast of Australia.

Movies not to be watched in a hostel

moviesatthecamelhostel

Everyone generally has a clear understanding of the 'unwritten rules' in a hostel. There are do's and dont's that each guest can follow in order to make other peoples hostel experience as easy as possible. Some things are just left unspoken. Now it's time to dish out a few movies that really shouldn't be screened in front of yourself and a few people you have never met before... if you want to be social and meet other people then putting on an awkward/typically bad choice of movie will leave people a bit wary of you. What other choice do you have when your low on cash and the weather has turned from good to bad outdoors? Movies it is.

Why visit New Zealand in winter?

winterinnewzealandglacier

I've noticed that it is getting quieter here in Auckland now that it's winter time. Which is obvious, as it is cold, wet and not many people like to travel and see the beauty of New Zealand in 'shitty' weather. However I do not agree with this, I think New Zealand is beautiful and yes especially during winter.

Top 5 Things to do in Cairns when it rains

cairnswildlifezoo

Cairns is known for its tropical weather - Most of the year we have high temperatures and sunshine but during the wet season it can be a different story. Although when it rains it really, really rains the temperature never drops lower than 15 - 20 degrees. Very lucky aren't we? But don't be put off - even during the wet season there are lots of things to do in Cairns and some of the activities are even better in the rain.

Frenzi Bar Crawl Auckland Photographer...

frenzibarcrawlteam

3 weeks ago the guys from Frenzi Bar crawl Auckland asked me to be the photographer for THE party that takes place every Thursday in Auckland. This means that I will be 'working' (checking how you guys are partying hard!) more hours a week than I am at the moment (because I also work at Nomads Auckland backpackers hostel).

Damn you hangover!

takeibuprofenforhangover

We have all been there: You had a great night out, made lots of new friends, had a few drinks and you have to check out of your hostel early the next morning. You oversleep, get woken up by one of the staff members and you have to hurry to pack up your stuff. Your head hurts, your eyes are red and you feel like collapsing as soon as you pick up your backpack. This feeling boys and girls, is known as a hangover.
