Silo Park

The wonderful thing about Auckland is its randomness. Just when you think it will start to quieten down ready for the festive period, it springs awesomeness on us in the shape of Silo Park's Outdoor Cinema.

Throughout December and January, Silo Park (located at Waterfront Auckland's Wynyard Quarter) has and will continue to show some classic movies for everyone to enjoy, the most recent being the ultimate classic musical "Grease".

Sitting outdoors on the grass, under the stars enjoying a family favourite and singing along to every word was pure pleasure and even the boys, who obviously denied all knowledge of knowing any of the words couldn't help themselves and were soon belting out numbers such as "summer loving" and "grease lightning" (yeah, you know who you are boys).

Even if the outdoor cinema is not your scene and you can't sit still, there is a brilliant market which is constantly buzzing with people, full of beer, great food, jewellery, clothes, did I mention beer? It kicks off at 5pm every Friday then Midday until 6pm on Saturdays and it is accompanied along with some live music from some brilliant local and international DJ's, but don't worry theatre goers, the music stops before the movie starts at 9pm.

There is an awesome line up heading to Silo Park, including Top Gun, Moonrise Kingdom and The Sound of Music. But this week we have a Christmas favourite, Home Alone, so get your popcorn, blankets and bean bags at the ready folks because we have a feeling that this one's going to be extremely busy.

Silo Park is just a short 5 minute walk from Nomads Auckland, so come see us at reception and we'll be happy to show you the way.
