If your time or cash is limited in Western Australia but you fancy venturing further afield than Perth and Fremantle then head down South to Margaret River. It's a fair few hours by car but nothing in comparison to the journey heading North! Margaret River is wine country.
If you need a little bit more persuasion than that then how about The Margaret River Chocolate Factory. Still not convinced? Perhaps the Margaret River Cheese company will do it for you. That is correct, wine, cheese and chocolate all in one convenient destination.
With wineries literally lining either side of tree lined roads make sure you are not the designated driver and choose to taste (many of them are free tastings) from some of the best wines in the world.
Once you have wined out, or maybe if you fancy just a pause then check out a World of Chocolate, the Margaret River Chocolate Factory for free chocolate tastings, a cafe and the best champagne truffles I have ever tasted. This is as close as you will ever get to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Whilst you are there, check out their Farm Shop, complete with locally made oils, jams and sauces.
It really is no wonder that this has been voted one of the top 100 gourmet experiences in Australia. Let's not forget the cheese, possibly the most important friend to our wine. With new cheese on display and available to taste every day you may as well spend a few days in Margaret River and experience the amazing high of baked ricotta heaven.
