There are loads of fun and free things to do in Byron Bay to keep you entertained, but if that isn’t enough for you, Byron Bay is also host to many events… Here’s a few of the most famous and the biggest on the Byron Bay Events Calendar!

January

• New Year’s Eve Community Celebrations
  • New Year’s Eve in Byron Bay is always fun with loads of events going on. Byron Bay’s Pubs and Clubs are always jam packed with events, the streets are always a buzz and of course, the annual Falls Festival brings people from across the country to Byron Bay every year!
• Byron Bay Artisan Night Market
  • Every Saturday from 8th October to end of March (including Fridays throughout January 2017 – Railway Park, Johnson Street, Byron Bay. 4pm – 9pm. Read more about Byron Bays markets here.

• Byron Arts Classic
  • This Arts Classic event is 6 day celebration of the visual arts, held at The Byron Theatre you can see all kinds of art from sculptures, to paintings and photographs and more. The festival will return in 2017 from the 24th to the 30th March from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
• Bluesfest
  • Enjoy Australia’s largest International Music Festival, with the biggest artists of Blues and Roots music.

May

• Byron Bay Triathlon
  • This triathlon & multi-sport festival is for everyone. Several things going on over the weekend, including an Aquathon for kids, the triathlon and even a Fun Run for Mums.
• Byron Bay Winter Whales Ocean Swim Classic
  • The Ocean Swim Classic attracts a lot of swimmers from all over Australia to enjoy this big contest.
• Bangalow Billycart Derby
  • A famous billycart racing for kids of all ages!

June

• Lismore Lantern Festival
  • This parade takes place in the heart of the Lismore CBD and is held close to the longest night of the year. There are many workshops, street theatre, music and much more to do on the night.
• Old and Gold Festival
  • Celebrate all old, secondhand and recycled things. There is live music all day, and many activities are undercover if the weather is not that good.

July

• Splendour in The Grass
  • A fantastic and very popular three day music festival held either at the end of July or early August.

August

• Byron Bay Writers Festival
  • This is a three-day weekend event held each year in Byron bay. This event includes dinners, interviews and panel discussions.
• Ocean Shores Art Expo
  • The art expo celebrates the natural environment. There is also a local art show.

September

• Big Scrub Rainforest Day – Rainforest Rescue
  • Sometimes held in October, but always around this time of year, Big Scrub Rainforest Day is the annual celebration of our rainforests and the natural environment where we live.

October

• Byron Lighthouse Run
  • There is a running or walking course you can enjoy. All the money earned during the event will go to charity.
• Byron Bay Surf Festival
  • A three-day event celebrating the surf culture, which makes Byron Bay what it is!
• Byron Bay International Film Festival
  • The Byron Bay Film Festival is a big draw card on the Byron Bay Events calendar for people of all ages – there are plenty of family friendly films to keep the little ones occupied, as well as red carpet events for those who want to go a bit posh.

• Byron Latin Fiesta
  • Enjoy four nights and two day of all things Latin; Music, workshops, performance.
• The Mullum Music Festival
  • Entire streets are laid for this four-day music festival.

• UpLift Festival
  • Uplift is not just an another festival, it’s a peace and love event.
• Byron Bay Community Christmas Carols
  • Come to Christmas Carol in Byron Bay to enjoy the bands with children.
• Byron Community Market
  • 1st and 3rd Sunday of December and January. Enjoy the buskers, music, tie dying workshops, local arts and crafts, food stands and over 300 stalls
• Bangalow Christmas Eve Festival
  • The event is held on Christmas Eve, with many performances, music, face-paint and puppet shows so everyone can get into the Christmas spirit.
