Two days in the Coromandel

stone in cathedral coves

New Zealand's summer is coming! My friends and I were thinking about doing some things to welcome the summer. So we decided to go to the Coromandel Peninsular, which is not far from Auckland, because we only had 2 days off from work. The weather was so good that weekend that it was sunny days all weekend.

The Coromandel is a region with lots of beaches and forests and there really are a lot of different things to do, like scuba diving, surfing, kayaking, hiking and fishing, etc. After 2 and half hours drive, we arrived in Hahei, which is a fabulous town with a great beach.

Outdoor New Years Eve celebrations NZ

Unlike other countries around the world, New Zealand takes it's New Year's Eve celebrations very seriously, taking in to account we are one of the first to see in the New Year, and there are now a number of overnight and 2 and 3 day festivals running over this time.

These festivals make a great change to the usual parties and club nights as they are all outdoor festivals so that you can enjoy the New Year's Eve Celebrations under the stars.

Haunted House Pub Crawl Cairns!

Halloween is one of the most anticipated events of the year, we spend weeks planning our costumes, organising which party we are going to attend and preparing ourselves for one hell of a good night and most likely a sore head in the morning - And I am thrilled to say, with a cracking headache, Halloween in Cairns, as per usual, did not disappoint!

Eat like a Local when Living Abroad

Whether you are relocating your life or simply backpacking for a while, arriving in a new place can be overwhelming. A great way to embrace the culture, and save money in the process, is by eating food the locals eat. Don't go searching for the peanut butter you are addicted to, instead eat the food that is grown locally.

Cooking your own food in hostels or at home can become expensive really fast if you don't know what to cook.

Trip to Taupo, an awesome adventure

3 T's (Trip To Taupo) turned into 3 A's (An Awesome Adventure).

Since I had three days off from work at Nomads Capital, I decided to go and do some exploring of beautiful New Zealand. My city of choice for my mini adventure... TAUPO! And what an adventure I had. (Make sure you listen to the music videos (youtube links) included to get the same feelings that I had when I was doing these things!)

Queenstown New Zealand | Top Ten Queenstown Activities

Milford Sound - Queenstown

Want to know the Top Ten Activities in Queenstown, New Zealand? Well you're in the right place. This was a very hard Top 10 to compile because with Queenstown being the adventure sports capital of New Zealand, choosing only the Top 10 is obviously a difficult task.

We made a list here at Nomads Queenstown Backpackers Hostel for our backpacking guests after feedback from them and it only seems right to share them with the rest of the traveling world.
