20 Things to do in Noosa for Under $20

Most people think that there are only two activities you can do in Noosa, tan your front and tan your back. But that couldn’t be more wrong! Not only are there heaps of really cool things to do in Noosa… they’re also very cheap!

So here is our list of 20 things to do in Noosa for under $20. Enjoy!

Free Things to do in Noosa

1. Noosa National Park walk

This point actually gives you at least 5 things to do as there are 5 different tracks through this very famous National Park. I would really recommend taking a picnic lunch and doing the coastal track where you can stop for a swim as well as the possible sighting of local wildlife, including dolphins.

2. Koala / Dolphin Spotting

Walk through the National Park and see how many Koalas you can spot! With areas like “Dolphin Point” you are bound to see loads of dolphins too! Entry to the National park is totally free.

3. Lookout!

No it’s not a warning! The Laguna lookout walk is amazing… especially at sunset. You can observe all of Noosa bay from one point! The trail to the lookout begins from Viewland Drive in Noosa Heads and will take you around 15 minutes to reach the top.

4. Relax by Noosa River

Grab a towel and chill out on the river. If you’re a fitness buff there is also FREE exercise equipment. The river is also a great place to watch a sunrise.

5. Mangrove walk

Near Aldi supermarket is a walk where if you keep an eye out you will see tonnes of animals and maybe even a turtle and it’s free!

6. Window Shop along Hastings Street

Have a walk on this beautiful main street of Noosa where you can find plenty of restaurants, stores and live music during the afternoon. You could also enjoy a smoothie or an ice cream! The price varies according to your greed.

7. Relax on The Beach

We’re lucky to have 2 amazing beaches to choose from, the Noosa main beach and Sunshine Beach. The Noosa Heads Coastal Walk is a great way to explore all of the amazing beaches in Noosa and during the winter months you may even be able to spot a Humpback Whale!

8. Play Beach Volleyball

Grab a ball and have a punt. Nomads Noosa has its own Beach volleyball court on site or alternatively you can head down the Main beach for a game, it’s a great way to make new friends, get some exercise and enjoy the lovely Noosa beach all for nothing!

9. Have a BBQ

Grab some friends, grab some food and head down to the Noosa River or Noosa woods for a BBQ! Most bbq’s in Noosa are free, but some are for a small fee. or come to our free sausage sizzle on a Sunday night at 7pm at Nomads Noosa. Cost FREE, apart from how many snags you buy!

10. Get on the Ferry

Seeing Noosa is great, seeing Noosa along the river system is amazing! For $25 you can do an unlimited day pass but trips start from only $5.50. The Noosa Ferry converts to a very cool sunset ferry at night. BYO booze and they’ll even supply glasses and ice! Lush! Take a trip along the River passing through the Noosa Woods and Noosa Sound as the sun goes down. View the timetable and prices here.

11. Visit Eumundi Markets or The Farmers Market

A market you cannot miss out on whilst in Australia are The Eumundi Markets which are on every Wednesday (8am – 1.30pm) & Saturday (7am – 2pm) in Eumundi. Take the bus 631 from Noosa. Will cost you the price of a bus ticket and how much veg you buy!

Talking of markets every Sunday between 7:00am and 12:00pm you can head to the Noosa Farmers Market at the AFL ground on Weyba Road in Noosaville. Loads of fresh produce, yummy breads and delicious sweets, the farmers markets are great! Plus you’re supporting our local farmers, what could be better!

12. Try an Escape Room

Experience a real-life puzzle-solving adventure game! Almost like stepping into a live video game, you and your team will enter a themed room and have 60 minutes to complete your mission to “escape” in time. Find hidden clues and solve challenging puzzles throughout the room before it’s too late. Each room is suitable for 2 – 6 players at a time. Grab your mates and head to Noosa’s only Escape Room destination – Redlock Escape Rooms…  do you think you will get out in time? From just $14 per person.

13. Go Surfing

Surfing can be a load of fun but unfortunately it can be out of our small backpackers budget sometimes. So for a bit of fun in the sun grab a body board for free from the reception desk at Nomads Noosa. If you do feel like splashing out a little extra $$ to master the board then you can book a Learn to Surf tour. Every year in March, Noosa also plays host to the annual Noosa Festival of Surfing which includes loads of free events.

14. Go Fishing

Pop down to the shops and grab some fishing gear and catch yourself some dinner! A hand reel from Big W or Target Country doesn’t cost a lot.

15. Listen to some Live music

Nothing like having a nice cold beer and listening to some tunes! KB’s bar and restaurant located at Nomads Noosa have live music and DJs Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays (alcohol has to be paid for but you can have a few beers for under $20!).

16. Go to the Cinema

If, like us, you are itching to see a new release, Noosa has a local cinema that is super duper comfy! Grab your ticket for $18.50 or go on a Tuesday when it’ll only cost you $14.50. (discounts for students apply) and don’t forget the popcorn!

17. Go to an Open Air Concert

Peregian originals. Come with some friends to enjoy the open air concert held on the second Sunday of every month on Peregian Beach Park between 1 and 5pm! Cost – a few beers and a small donation to this not for profit organisation!

18. Go on a Bike ride

Grab a bike from Nomads Noosa and ride along the river, or venture further afield!

19. Have some Fish and Chips on the Beach

Grab some friends together and grab some fish and chips down on the beach or by the river. The great thing about Noosa is the Fish is fresh and cheap too, and there is definitely no shortage of fish and chip shops!!! Cost – Couple of bucks!

20. Eat!

Everybody likes to get into some munchies and Noosa is home to some of the cheapest, freshest and tastiest food in Australia. And if you’re staying at Nomads Noosa (actually even if you’re not), every night at KB’s Bar and Restaurant you can get yourself a $6 – $12 meal between 5 and 8.30pm.
