If you are a big fan of seafood, live music, beer gardens and you are in Auckland towards the end of January then look no further as we can recommend the perfect event for you, The Auckland Seafood Festival.
Every year on Auckland’s anniversary weekend, Halsey Wharf in the Wynyard Quarter (downtown Auckland) is taken over by stall upon stall of delicious, mouth watering, fresh New Zealand seafood! (Auckland Anniversary Day is a public holiday which usually falls on the Monday closest to 29th January).
Local celebrity chefs and seafood experts are on hand to answer any questions you might have about seafood you may never have heard of before, or you might just want to ask what on earth to do with a ‘pipi’. There are also live cooking demonstrations over this 3 day seafood extravaganza!
To make it even better why not enjoy a cold beer or wine to accompany your seafood in the Monteiths Beer Garden. Still not enough for you? Then you can also enjoy some live music from Kiwi acts. And what could be a more perfect setting than Halsey Wharf with a beautiful backdrop of the Waitemata Harbour. With Auckland Anniversary Day being at the end of January you’re almost guaranteed a sunny day as it’s right in the middle of summer!
The Auckland Seafood Festival gets bigger and better each year, so if you enjoy your scampi and scallops, oysters and mussels, crayfish and whitebait along with some nice New Zealand beers or wines and some local kiwi music, then get yourself there and see what The Auckland Seafood Festival has to offer this year.
