New Years Eve Byron Bay

The biggest party of the year is always a New Years Eve party and where better to spend it than Byron Bay with its beautiful surf beaches and iconic Pubs & Clubs. There’s lots of things to do when you are staying in Byron Bay over the festive season, but as it is such a popular destination for Australians and international visitors – make sure you organise your accommodation at the Arts Factory Lodge well in advance!

Byron Bay New Years Eve celebration in town

Soul Street – To see in 2017 the main streets of Byron Bay’s town centre came to life on New Year’s Eve. Johnston Street and Railway Park featured markets, fire twirlers, drumming circles, local live music, food stalls, circus performers, amusement rides and lots more!

It’s not yet been announced whether Soul Street is on again to see in 2020 but there will be some kind of celebration, which is likely to be alcohol free, however the local Byron bars will be buzzing and open for a beer or two! Check out our Top 5 places to grab a beer in Byron Bay here.

Byron Bay Bars NYE

Besides celebrating New Years Eve at the beach you can also party in the many bars Byron Bay has to offer. Here are a few options for you!

The Beach Hotel generally hosts lots of events, they normally have a huge NYE event, but be aware they normally charge an entry fee!

The Byron Bay Brewery usually have a big New Years bash with live bands and DJs so stay tuned!

Cheeky Monkey’s are well known for their wild parties 7 nights a week so stay tuned for whatever crazy NYE plans are ahead!

The Northern is home to Australia’s best indie bands and and they always through a great New Year’s Bash – event to be announced.

Railway Hotelor as the locals call it “The Rails” has live music 7 nights a week and is bound to have something on!

All the bars are open on the 31st of December and the 1st of January. So if you haven’t partied enough on New Years Eve, you’ve got a second chance on New Years Day as many of the bars also throw a New Year’s Day party!

First Sun New Year’s Day

Chances are you probably welcome the new year with little or no sleep. Main Beach Byron Bay will host First Sun festivities from 5:15am on New Year’s Day. Events include free yoga classes, a free sunrise meditation class, sand sculpting a few other surprises… a very Byron Bay way to celebrate the new year!

The Falls Music and Arts Festival

For those of you that want more of a festival thing going on, then you might want to consider the Byron Falls Festival held at North Byron Parklands from Dec 31 to Jan 2.

3 Day Festival tickets will set you back around $299 (plus booking fee), but if you are on a budget you can purchase a Day ticket for around $149 that will allow you to enjoy the New Year’s Eve celebrations on Thursday 31st December.

Also, don’t forget that the 1st of January is a Public Holiday so that all the shops will be closed. So also the Bottle shops! Don’t forget to buy your drinks in time and that the Bottle shops will also close early on the 31st of December.
