Nomads Byron BayÂ has taken out the honours winning best Backpacker Accommodation North Coast NSW, in the Countrylink North Coast Tourism Awards for Business Excellence2010.
This year was the first ever combined North Coast Tourism Awards, joining Northern Rivers Tourism and Mid North Coast Tourism. These 2010 Regional Tourism Awards will continue to follow the State Tourism Awards Program.
Entry is by submission and an independent site inspection. The submission is extensive and covers the areas of customer service, customer satisfaction, facilities, best practice, eco friendliness, risk management, staff training, local commitment and commitment to the industry as a whole. The property also undergoes a site inspection as part of the judging assessment.
Winners were announced at a gala black tie dinner in Coffs Harbour on Saturday, 14th August. Master of Ceremonies was Channel 10 weatherman, Tim Bailey. A total of 27 Winners were announced on the night – along with finalists selected from almost 100 entries by tourism businesses from the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast.
"We are very proud of our team and put out a huge thank you to them, they have worked hard to make the property what it is. We have faith in our product, but it's always good to be acknowledged by the tourism bodies. Of course there are many people who support Nomads Byron Bay, we would like to acknowledge the many agents and tour operators that work with us, the Nomads Travel team, the crew at Nomads headquarters in Sydney, local suppliers and businesses that support us. There are many people who contribute to making the hostel a success. We are looking forward to the NSW State awards." says manager Mick Vazquez.
Nomads Byron Bay opened in March 2009 and is the second hostel in Byron Bay for Nomads. The property is an instant favourite with all those who stay there. The high standard of the property has set a new benchmark for backpacking in Australia.###
