"Thailand is a wondrous kingdom, featuring Buddhist temples, exotic wildlife, and spectacular islands. Along with a fascinating history and a unique culture that includes delectable Thai food and massage, Thailand features a modern capital city, and friendly people who epitomize Thailand’s “land of smiles” reputation."
It's hard to find words that describe Thailand in a few sentences better than the quote above from the official Thailand Tourism website. It's because of the stunning scenery, friendly people, beautiful beaches and tasty food that many backpackers include Thailand on their round the world adventure. It's a popular stop-off either before or after visiting Australia and New Zealand (and highly recommended by us!).
Nomads staff have been asking the directors for years to open up hostels in Thailand so that they can have an excuse to check out the country for 'work'. The good news for us is that Nomads has now partnered with a few hotels in key locations in Thailand so backpackers can enjoy all the hotel and resort facilities but at good value backpacker prices.
If you've never considered visiting Thailand before I bet you'll want to after watching this video which clearly shows why so many people visit. (Watch it in full screen and High Definition so you can fully appreciate the video, or watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsPIA3p4D44)
Nomads Club Asia Hostels can be found in all the locations shown in the video and if you purchase a Bed Hopper pass you get an even better deal on your accommodation if you're visiting all or just some of the places mentioned.
Bangkok is a huge city with so many hidden gems to be found, from the infamous Khao San Road, which is a mecca for backpackers, to the serenity of numerous Buddhist temples. There's something for everyone in the capital city where 7 million people live!
There are lots of islands to choose from for some R & R and you should try and visit several of them to experience some of the most beautiful places on earth. Koh Phi Phi, Koh Tao and Koh Samui are the places to go for beaches, snorkeling and diving, whereas if you want to have one of the craziest nights of your life head to the full moon party in Koh Phangnan!
If you're lucky enough to be visiting Thailand during the Thai New Year you'll experience a water fight like no other. Songkran is hard to believe! Everyone from the youngest Thai citizens to the oldest citizens, tuk tuk drivers, shop owners, tourists and anyone else on the street during Songkran will soak you with water. They use hoses, water pistols, buckets... literally anything they can get their hands on to drench anyone who happens to be in Thailand. It's seriously crazy and one of the most fun things I've ever experienced!
Thailand really does it have all. Every type of bar you can imagine, friendly locals, exotic wildlife, serene temples, some of the tastiest (and cheapest) food in the world, beautiful beaches, all kinds of massages (!) and a modern capital city.
Book your accommodation in Thailand with Nomads - we'd love to be a part of your once in a lifetime adventure to this wonderful part of the world.
