Australian Sporting Events

AustralianSportingEventssurfing

Australia is a nation known for its many great sporting teams and competitive nature. When living or visiting here it is hard to not become wrapped up in all the different events and become and little "Sports Crazy". With many large international events such as the Cricket (The Ashes) and The Australian Open alongside many interstate events like the State of Origin you cannot escape the sporting atmosphere.

Queenstown to Franz Josef roadtrip

franzjosef

The South Island of New Zealand is a perfect location to drive around for a roadtrip. There are barely any traffic lights through the incredible landscapes and it is just a piece of cake to drive (yes even through there are mountains and even for me as a terrible driver). Having 2 days of from work made me decide to go on a small roadtrip up to the west coast from Queenstown to Franz Josef.

Spotting Celebrities in New Zealand

laureninthepaper

I'm sure this isn't on everyone's bucket list but if you just so happen to be in the right place at the right time you may find yourself an added bonus to your already amazing adventure in New Zealand! Meeting a celebrity! What are the chances? Maybe you are on your way to do the Auckland Harbour Bridge Bungy or you just fancy a few ice creams at Mission Bay, maybe you're in the South Island fuelling up on food before exploring the glaciers... you never know what you might see or even better, who you might meet!

Artwork at the Arts Factory Lodge

creatingart

As the name already implies the Nomads Arts Factory in Byron Bay is a place where art is embraced and created. Over its 20 year long history the Arts Factory Lodge has hosted many musicians, painters and craftsmen that have all contributed with musical performances, artwork and manpower to create the Arts Factory that we love and how it is today. You can find art done by our guests almost around every corner on the property, each telling a story of their own.

My brief encounter with Thailand

elephantSafari

I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Thailand at the start of this year on my holiday through Asia. After a 9 hour bus ride from Siem Reap, Cambodia we finally made it to Bangkok. As usual, we hadn't pre booked accommodation, and found a taxi to take us to Khao San Road so we could find somewhere to stay for the night. After haggling the price down to 250 Baht for a taxi ride, we were on our way!

A Personalised Souvenir

hoodienz

I have already been working and living at Nomads Queenstown for two months already and I still haven't found the perfect souvenir. Of course every city, town or village in New Zealand offers loads of different souvenirs. Get a postcard here, grab a teddy bear there and what about a lanyard? But if you have a look around, you will soon realise that most of the souvenirs are very similar and of course everybody gets the same. So why not get a personalised souvenir that you can design yourself?

Pros and Cons of different ways to travel

campervanBB

So, after years of saving up, months of research, and a week of saying goodbye's, it's finally time to leave for your world trip. You know which highlights you want to see, which tours you want to book, and the different cities you want to visit. Only problem is: how to move between different adventures once you're there. Here are some guidelines to make your decision a little bit easier:

The perfect travel picture

whitsundayssunset

You've finally left home to go for that trip you've always wanted to take. Traveling around South East Asia, following the entire Pan-American highway, backpacking through Europe, or going 'downunder' are amongst the most popular long-term travel plans. After your travels you want pictures to remember all the amazing things you've seen and, let's be honest, to show off your adventures to your friends. Here are some tips on how to get that perfect picture that will make everyone jealous:

Why Kiwis and Australians love RUGBY!

rugbyatedenpark

Well, I thought it would be suitable for me to write about the eternal flame and passion shared back and forth between both Kiwis (New Zealanders) and Strayans (Australians) when it comes to the one word that separates us the most - RUGBY. Being that I am Kwassie (Kiwi, Aussie) my mum born in Australia and my dad in New Zealand, I feel that sometimes I am on the fence a bit. What makes this such a competitive sport between both countries though?

Why People Travel!

whypeopletravel-explore

Most people at some point in their life will have an urge to travel. This may be a two week holiday to somewhere warm to top up your suntan or this could be a life changing year long trip. Everyone will  have their own reasons for travel but most are triggered by something. This may be an event or could be a sudden change of feeling giving you the desire to fly the nest and set off on an adventure.
