3 stereotypes Australian's hate

aussiebbq

If you're travelling around Australia, no doubt you would have had your pre-conceptions about the wonderful Aussies. However, there are a few phrases and stereotypes of Australians that not all Aussies will agree with, and some Australians hate these stereotypes with a passion! Here are the 3 stereotypes that Aussies working at Nomads Airlie Beach dislike the most.

Glebe Market Sydney

glebemarket

If you are looking for something to do on your lazy Saturdays before going out, you will really enjoy Glebe market. It is located just outside the city centre but it really feels like you're not in Sydney any more. The atmosphere there is very town-like. When you walk into the street the market is located on, you immediately notice the serenity and peacefulness of the neighbourhood.

Rainy day activities in Airlie Beach

shedbarairliebeachmovienight

Unfortunately when you're travelling, plans don't always work out and the weather you were hoping for doesn't always happen - especially when you're in Far North Queensland! The Whitsundays generally provides us with unlimited days of sunshine, hot weather, beautiful blue skies and a perfect backdrop for your overnight sailing trip, but unfortunately weather is unpredictable and we do get the odd day of rain - especially in our scheduled wet season between November and March.

4 reasons you should keep on traveling

reasonstotravel

Traveling is awesome. Everyone knows that. You meet new people, see new places, experience new things. But let's face it, sometimes, every now and then, you just wanna pack up your shit and go home.

You miss your friends, your family, even your job sometimes (maybe just a little), you're broke, nothing's going your way, you're sick of all the packing up and constant farewells.

Why I prefer traveling alone

makingfriendstraveling

I always planned to go on my trip through Australia by myself. First, I was not sure about how it would be to travel alone. I guess it's quite normal that I was a bit worried in the beginning! But luckily I figured out very quickly that I would never be lonely on this journey. It took me around half an hour before I made my first friend on the plane. And it continued like that. No matter where I went, I met amazing people, heard interesting life stories and made friends for life.

Whitsundays day trip Derwent Hunter

derwent-hunter

For those of you travelling to the Whitsundays, you are probably already aware of the hundreds of thousands (ok, a slight exaggeration) of trips available. They range from cheap day trips, to luxurious multi-night trips. Last week, we decided to test one of the better known day trips - the Derwent Hunter. Derwent Hunter is a beautiful old tallship built in 1946 and still holds her old charm to this day, taking 39 people a day out to the Whitsunday Islands.

A Rainy Day in the Tropics

rainydayincairns

When you're on holiday you expect the weather to be perfect sunshine everyday but this is not always the case. Sometimes, especially when living in the tropics like Cairns, out of nowhere the heavens can open and you are stuck in a tropical thunderstorm. The rain can stop you from doing certain activities such as sunbathing next to the lagoon or skydiving but there is still plenty that you can get on with.

Why visit Rotorua in New Zealand?

zorb-rotorua

Why? Here's why...

Action, adventure, Maori culture, Geysers, mud pools and thermal hot springs have been attracting visitors to Rotorua since the 1800s and the living, breathing landscape never fails to amaze. Don’t be put off by the faint sulphur scent which lingers in the air like a bad fart, this is just a reminder of the thermal activity that is beneath the surface constantly trying to escape.
