Queenstown Travel Guide

Set amidst the enchanting Wakatipu and the accurately named 'Remarkables' Mountain range, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was purely the scenery that made Queenstown menacingly encapulating, alas no; the spectacular scenery merely provides an outstanding backdrop for the wonders within (and an outstanding backdrop for a skydive!)

What I miss back home, and what I will always miss if I never go back there, are these beautiful parks, where everyone comes together to chill out and where life seems so easy and perfect. Luckily Queenstown does offer this and I can't get enough of it! The Queenstown Gardens are only a minute walk away from Nomads Queenstown and not only is it a great place to relaxe but there are several activities available too.

I said it before and I am going to say this again: Queenstown why are you so beautiful, so pretty and so damn entertaining?! Last Monday my colleague and I were invited to go horse riding in Glenorchy. Glenorchy, a 40 minute drive from Queenstown, is a small town with beautiful surroundings. Beautiful scenery, great for lord of the rings fans or people like me who don't like hobbits but love nature, locals and specialties to do.

Ever since I arrived here in Queenstown I've been hearing people talk about how beautiful the Ben Lomond hiking track is. So I finally decided to do it myself yesterday and since I'm doing the Milford Track in a few weeks I thought it would be a good way to see if I'm going to be alright on the Milford Track.

Weather reports had scared us the night before and we thought maybe our trip wasn't going to happen but we were lucky to wake up to a beautiful morning in Queenstown with clear skies.

skydiveparadisequeenstown

Since I arrived in Queenstown I started to create my own Queenstown Bucket List, which is full of awesome activities (and I keep adding new ones). This week I ticked off one of the coolest activities, I went skydiving! I booked my skydive at Skydive Paradise and I was going to be picked up at 8 o'clock the next day. Psyched as I was I almost couldn't sleep. But after catching a few hours of sleep I woke up even more psyched. I had my breakfast, did the weather check and walked over to the pick up place. The weather was really nice, so I knew I chose the perfect day to do a skydive.

Oh Queenstown, I can't get enough of you, your activities but most of all your beautiful views. This town keeps surprising me and last Monday it did it again! After my 'free' breakfast at Nomads Queenstown I made myself ready for another adventure: Paragliding with the team from Coronet Peak Tandem Paragliding and Hang Gliding.

One of the reasons why Queenstown is loved by so many people is that it lies on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The lake, which was created by a glacier, gives visitors many possibilities to enjoy their stay in Queenstown and not only just the beauty of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding snowcapped mountains.

Walter Peak High Country Farm

Living in the center of Queenstown and basically being around people all the time made me decide to do something cultural outside of Queenstown. I decided to spend my afternoon with Real Journeys for their trip out to Walter Peak High Country Farm via the awesome TSS Earnslaw.

Real Journeys is a tourism company that is regarded as a leader in the New Zealand tourism industry and offers operations from Stewart Island to Queenstown, including cruises through Milford and Doubtful Sounds.
