So what's the best way to get around Melbourne? I say it depends. Where am I going? What am I doing? Am I in a rush? That being said, Melbourne is a great city to wander about on foot. Every morning I get up and take a 50 minute walk into the city for work. It's great! Really wakes me up and gets me ready for the morning. If I'm running a bit late, I'll hop on my bike instead. Both give me a fresh outlook for the upcoming day, and I get to discover the city along the way!

Recently I made my way to Queenstown's little brother Wanaka to get my mind freaked out. Just around the corner from Nomads Queenstown you can catch the Connectabus which takes about a one and a half hour ride through the mountains. Besides the beautiful lake and the nice atomsphere in Wanaka you should definitely stop by Puzzling World, one of the most popular attractions there.

To whom it may concern,

I have just arrived to Auckland City and I'm looking for a good night out. I am German so I like mostly beer, good music and random acts of kindness. Not to mention that I'm on a tight budget and only here in Auckland for a few days before I venture off on the rest of my travels. What can you recommend to me as a 'good night out' in the city where I can find other travelers like myself? I am staying with Nomads Fat Camel.

The Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne is very well known amongst locals and travellers. Not only is it a historic market but it provides lots of fresh produce at very competitive prices. In addition to fresh fruit and vegetables, customers can also purchase tasty cheeses and meats, and other delicatessan products, and fresh fish and seafood.

A question I often get asked here at the Mad Travel Shop is "where is the closest beach?" or "where can I go for a swim?" and people seem rather surprised when I say that the closest beach is just a 10 minute drive away. This in fact is one of the many joys of living in Auckland, you are never too far from a beach, you don't need to drive for more than half an hour most of the time to get to the water.

When in Byron Bay it's good to know how to get around easily. After my first week in Byron Bay I can honestly say that the easiest way to get around is by foot. But for the ones who want to get around quickly or want to cross (relatively) big distances in the Byron Bay area, the best option is the bike. And no, I don't mean a Harley Davidson bike, but the more reliable bicycle.

When in Auckland, a visit to Rangitoto Island is definitely a must! I visited the island with Auckland Sea Kayaks who offer a full day guided kayaking trip. I did this trip not so long ago. Most people will decide to go with the ferry which have a few scheduled services per day, but I highly recommend kayaking as an alternative. If you do decide to go with the ferry though, make sure that you take enough fluids and food as there is no place to buy it once on the island.

What is the best spot to visit in Queenstown? My answer was, is and probably will always be: I can't tell... every place has something special and every place takes my breath away. I can tell you about Queenstown now but probably you won't believe everything that I am saying cause you might get the feeling that I want to get you here ASAP! You know what? That is so TRUE! I do want you to be here... and no not for myself but for you, so you can explore what I am exploring; the beauty of this place.
