For such a long time now I wanted to go to Waiheke Island - why... simply because it's close to Auckland and I heard a lot from other folks that it's like paradise. Wellington is renowned for being the cultural and artistic hub of New Zealand and, given the relatively small population (for a capital city at least), there’s an astounding number of quality restaurants, cafés, bars, galleries, shops and theatres here. It is often said that there are more cafes and restaurants per capita than New York City. They range from cheap day trips, to luxurious multi-night trips. Last week, we decided to test one of the better known day trips - the Derwent Hunter. Derwent Hunter is a beautiful old tallship built in 1946 and still holds her old charm to this day, taking 39 people a day out to the Whitsunday Islands.

Sydney is such a great place to be outdoors, it has great weather and so many open spaces that it often makes you feel like you are miles away from a city. There is no better way to experience Sydney’s outdoors and the Australian lifestyle than with a barbecue by the water in one of Sydney’s parks. Get a couple of friends or fellow travelers, visit the local butcher and the supermarket to get your bbq food of choice, some bread and butter and get your adventure started!
