You may cancel your booking up to twenty-four hours before arrival. Please do so directly with the relevant hostel.
DEPOSITS ARE NON REFUNDABLE.
In the event of a no-show without cancellation, the hostel has the right to charge your credit card for the first night's stay where you have booked accommodation.
Every effort is made to ensure the hostel processes your bookings correctly.
Your contract is with the hostel, not nomadsworld.com. It is the hostel's responsibility to provide you with the services.
Smart City Hostels Edinburgh is situated just off Edinburgh's historic Royal Mile and a few minutes stroll from both Waverley Railway Station and the Airport Bus terminal.
Directions from Waverley Train Station
1. Exit Waverley station using the Market Street Exit
2. Turn to your right and walk towards the mini traffic island, cross the road and walk up Cockburn Street.
3. At the top of Cockburn Street, turn left High Street (also known as Royal Mile)
4. At the Radisson Hotel turn right down Blackfriars Street
5. Smart City Hostels is located on the Right Hand side at the foot of Blackfriars Street
1.All rates quoted are inclusive of VAT and are subject to availability and alteration.
2.All bed linen and towels are provided.
3.Rooms are available at 3pm on the day of arrival; however you are welcome to drop off any luggage in the morning.
4.You do not have to be a member of any organisation to stay at Smart City Hostels however we do require valid photo identification upon check in, preferably a valid passport, National I.D card or photo driving license. All guests must also complete and sign a guest registration form. All Walk-in bookings must present a valid credit/debit card for authorisation as security guarantee against room damage.
5.Departing guests must remove all their belongings from their room, and check out, before 10am. After this time guests may make use of the luggage storage facilities but all possessions must be removed from the room and the room key card handed back to reception. A late check out up to 12pm will be charged at £10 per room, after this time an additional night stay at the rack rate of the bed or room will be charged.
6.Upon check in each guest will receive a room key card for access to their room. These key cards are activated for the period of stay only and must be handed back to reception on check out. Failure to return the key card or re-issue of a lost card will result in a charge of £5.00 GBP per card.
7.A Booking for 10 persons or over is considered a group booking and cannot be booked using our online booking service over the web. Please use our group bookings form providing as much information as you can and we will be back in touch within 1 working day to let you know if we have availability.
1.Bookings cannot be accepted from any person under the age of 18 unless they are accompanied by an adult (over 18) who is staying in the same room.
2.Guests under the age of 18 years of age must stay in a private room with a responsible adult they can not share in general dormitory rooms with persons that are not part of their own group or family. Under 18s are not allowed in Bar 50 after end of food service.
3.Female only dorms are available request and are subject to availability. Female only dorms are not available in August.
4.No animals are allowed on the premises with the exception of guide dogs.
1.A deposit can be taken at the time of booking and this is non-refundable.
2.The deposit can be paid either via the Smart City web booking engine, one of our affiliate web sites or by telephone, the payment must be made by credit card, direct deposit or cheque and is non-refundable.
3.The balance owing for all nights booked will be due in full upon arrival, either by debit/credit card or cash, with the exception of group bookings which are required to be paid at least 14 days prior to arrival.
4.If your booking is being paid for with a third party credit card we will require written authorisation to be provided by the card-holder.
5.We offer no credit facilities. All payments must be paid in full upon arrival.
6.We do not accept Laser Cards or American Express.
7.We cannot take Electron or Solo cards via email, fax or telephone, however you can swipe these cards at check-in.
8.If any payment under these terms and conditions are not met, then without prejudice to our other rights and remedies we may cancel your booking; and/or we may suspend the supply and/or deliveries of any other services provided to you by us. We will however inform you in writing prior to any such action.
AMENDMENTS & CANCELLATIONS
1.We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. All notifications to cancel must be made by 3pm, 48 hours prior to arrival date. Failure to cancel within this time will result in a cancellation charge equal to the first night of your stay, and all subsequent night, if any, will be cancelled.
2.If you inform us prior to the 48 hour cut-off period, only the 10% of total fee deposit shall be retained by Smart City Hostels. This fee shall be retained to cover administration costs.
3.Any amendments to your bookings must be made at least 48hrs prior to arrival. We will try and accommodate your amendments subject to availability.
4.Refunds will only be given for any subsequent nights if payment has already been made and the above terms and conditions met.
5.Cancellations are required to be in writing, either in the form of a letter, fax or email or telephone. If cancelling by telephone please obtain a cancellation reference.
6.Early departures are not eligible for refund under any circumstances.
7.Should any or all guests not arrive on the booked date of arrival, Smart City Hostels will charge to your credit card the full amount of the first nights accommodation for non-arriving guests and the remainder of the booking will be cancelled.
1.The comfort, safety and security of our guests are of paramount importance. Any guest(s) who, in the opinion of our team, compromise the comfort, safety or security of other guests, team members or local residents will be requested to leave the hostel premises and will not be offered a refund.
2.Guests are expected to respect other guests, our team, local residents and property.
3.Fire Regulations: Guests are required to familiarise themselves and comply with all fire regulations and evacuation procedures at the property where they are staying. Any malicious activation of fire alarms or misuse of fire equipment including tampering will result in a penalty being incurred.
4.Smoking: Please note that since 26th March 2006 a ban on smoking in public places in Scotland came into force. This means Smart City Hostels will operate a no smoking policy throughout the premises. Any guest found smoking within the building will be charged a fee of £50.00 in order to cover the cost of restoring the room to a smoke-free condition.
5.Further failure to comply will result in the guest(s) being asked to leave the premises immediately and will not be offered a refund. A smoking area and ashtrays are provided on our terrace and in our courtyard outside the building.
6.Alcohol bought outside the bar can be consumed in rooms only.
7.No drink may be consumed outside after 10pm.
8.Quiet policy after 10pm.
9.Groups- Coaches must switch off their engine when parked outside.
1.Guests are asked to use the secure lockers provided in the luggage store.
2.It is the guest's responsibility to ensure that their personal belongings are secure at all times.
3.Insurance & Personal Property: It is your responsibility to insure your personal effects, as Smart City Hostels cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property.
4.Guests will be expected to reimburse Smart City Hostels for any damages caused by inappropriate behaviour during their stay.
OVERSIGHTS & ERRORS
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of all information, Smart City Hostels does not accept liability for any errors or omissions and reserves the right to change information. We make every effort to accommodate you in the dormitory size of your choice. However, because of the nature of our business, we may have to place you in a different sized dormitory. As a result the balance to be paid upon arrival can be slightly different than what is stated on your confirmation.
All bookings are subject to availability and Smart City Hostels reserve the right to decline any booking at its discretion.
