When you're backpacking it is hard to shower the one you love in gifts and goodies, you're on a budget and budgets tend to cover things like two minute noodles, not diamonds and champagne! So what to do? You can't ignore her (trust me – that will not end well) but you don't want to look cheap either. So follow these tips and she'll think you're the greatest guy alive!
Sunset is now your best friend, it's free and happens everyday- yay! In Noosa we get some pretty amazing sunsets.
Head up to the Noosa Lookout, tell her you just want to go for a nice evening stroll, bring a nice (cheap but nice!) bottle of wine (or goon... but goon isn't very romantic) and trek up to the look out. Chill out with your woman and some drinks and watch the sunset. She will think you're the most amazing guy in the world.
Going out for dinner doesn't have to be a 5 course extravaganza to be amazingly romantic. Head down to Noosa Main Beach, on the street along the beach pop in and grab a cheap meal of fish and chips – take away! Then either grab one of the beachfront tables or just sit on the actual beach. Chill out away from the life of the hostel and just have some alone time.
Talking of alone time, spending time away from other people is massive for couples - especially after you've been doing the dorm room thing for a while! Take her for a walk through the Noosa National park, or go down to the beach just the two of you.
A nice tour that keeps your budget inline is the Noosa Ferries Sunset cruise, it is $20 per person and you can Bring Your Own (BYO) alcohol. They'll even provide glasses and ice! It cruises through the Noosa River system and is really nice.
Another cheap tour (and one which she'll love) is to hire a double kayak from $45 and spend a few hours paddling about. Or take her out to try her hand at fishing - if nothing else you're guaranteed a giggle! You can spend a little more and do guided kayak or fishing trips; highly recommended for romance is the sunset kayak tour!
Markets are great too, in and around Noosa we have the Eumundi Markets which are every Saturday (7am-2pm) and Wednesday (8am-1:30pm), also the Tewantin markets every Sunday (8am-2pm), and the Noosa Farmers market every Sunday (7am-12pm).
The are also several locations in Noosa that have FREE BBQ's overlooking the river, bring some food down and enjoy.
Being romantic doesn't have to cost the earth, a little note on her pillow (or if she is on the bottom bunk pop it under the top bunk so that when she lays down she'll see it above her), picking a flower when you walk past one, giving her the last chocolate even though she insists you have it (deep down all us girls want is the last chocolate!!) or generally just stopping what you are doing to have a kiss. It all adds up! And who knows, being more romantic might lead to even MORE Sexytime!
And don't forget, if you're aiming for sexytime - shaking down the dorm beds isn't cool. We've got you covered in the best places in a hostel to get it on!!
